  • costs to the long-term
    health of the U.S. economy
    including an expanded trade
    deficit and high inflation

The costs of the current war
in Iraq are high and rising daily.

In addition to the sky-rocketing
human, monetary, and social
costs quantified here, there are
many other costs not so easy to
quantify but just as real:

  • costs to U.S. credibility
    both at home and abroad,
    especially as pertaining
    to respect for international
    law and human rights

  • costs to international
    security as the on-going
    occupation of Iraq provides
    terrorist organizations with
    an increasingly effective
    recruitment tool.
